Carbon Beach residents who already use cold plunge are the natural audience for understanding what the cryo room adds. The cold plunge operates at 50–59°F — physiologically effective, well-documented, and excellent for post-exercise inflammation. The whole body cryo room operates at -110°C to -160°C, which is a fundamentally different thermal stimulus. At those temperatures, the cold-shock protein response (HSP70, HSP90) is fully activated in 2–4 minutes in a way that cold water immersion cannot reach because the skin temperature at -140°C drops much faster than at 55°F water. The cryo room session produces stronger norepinephrine release, a more complete systemic anti-inflammatory cascade, and the collagen stimulation and cellular repair activation that cold plunge at therapeutic temperatures doesn’t trigger.
